
Kleve and Widmann Pace Mizzou Cross Country at Bradley Classic

Kleve, Widmann lead the way for Mizzou in Peoria, Ill.
PEORIA, Ill. – In the first of two meets on the weekend, Mizzou Cross Country competed in the Bradley Classic on Friday in Peoria, Ill. The Tigers were led by redshirt freshman Jordyn Kleve (Urbandale, Iowa), who ran the 6000m race in 22:02.0, and redshirt freshman Michael Widmann (Naperville, Ill.), who finished the 8000m race at 25:43.1.
In the first 6000m race of her collegiate career, Kleve paced the Tigers for the duration of the race, finishing in 54th-place overall. Following behind Kleve on the women's side was sophomore Hannah Thomas (Urbandale, Iowa) and sophomore Emmie Hahn (Downers Grove, Ill.), who finished the race at 22:58.3 and 24:08.5, respectively.
On the men's side, Widmann led the Tiger pack, finishing just 20 seconds off his 8000m personal-record and 72nd overall. Finishing just behind Widmann was redshirt sophomore Zach Cook (Columbia, Mo.) and redshirt junior Ben Goodman (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who finished at 25:51.3 and 25:58.4, respectively. Finishing sixth for the Tigers was redshirt sophomore Taylor Stephen (Nixa, Mo.), who posted a personal-record time of 26:43.8 in the race.
Mizzou will be back in action tomorrow at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. The meet will serve as a tune-up for the postseason for the Tigers, who begin postseason competition at the SEC Championships on Friday, Oct. 28.
