@MizzouSwimDive Hosts Alabama Friday in SEC Opener

The Tigers host the Crimson Tide at Noon at the Mizzou Aquatic Center
COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving programs open Southeastern Conference action on Friday, Oct. 14 with a Noon home dual against the Alabama Crimson Tide at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. Admission to the meet is free.
Both programs are coming off titles at the 11th annual Show-Me Showdown on Oct. 7, as the men scored 635.5 points to defeat 10 teams and the women's squad tallied 717 points to best nine other programs. Missouri won all 13 women's events and 1o men's titles during the meet. Senior Michael Chadwick (Charlotte, N.C.) and juniors Hannah Stevens (Lexington, Ohio) and Hunter Fritter (Houston Texas) each earned two event wins to lead the Tigers. Chadwick won the 100 free and 200 IM, Stevens won the 100 free and 100 back and Fritter claimed the 1-meter scramble and 3-meter title.
Fritter and junior Alexa Beckwith were honored by the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday as the SEC Divers of the Week for their performances at the Show-Me Showdown. Fritter won Male Diver of the Week honors with wins in the 1-meter scramble and 3-meter at the Showdown, with individual scores of 352 and 312, respectively, for the first two event victories of his career. As a team, the junior helped Missouri to a team 1-meter total of 352.40. Beckwith helped the Tigers win the team 1-meter scramble and placed second on 3-meter in the season-opening meet. She scored an individual tally of 322 points, a personal best, on 1-meter as the team won the event with a total score of 345.55. Beckwith also totaled 320 points on 3-meter to take second, only five points out of first-place. Her 1-meter win marked the eighth event title of her Mizzou career.
Following the Show-Me Showdown, 10 different Tigers are ranked nationally in the top-25 of their respective events.
