Juniors Alexa Beckwith and Hunter Fritter earned SEC Diver of the Week honors
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou junior divers Alexa Beckwith (Denver, Colo.) and Hunter Fritter (Houston, Texas) both earned Southeastern Conference Diver of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday. Beckwith claimed Female Diver of the Week and Fritter was named the Male Diver of the Week based on their performances at the 2016 Show-Me Showdown on Oct. 6.
Both Tigers earned SEC honors for the first time in their career.
Beckwith helped the Tigers win the team 1-meter scramble and placed second on 3-meter in the season-opening meet. She scored an individual tally of 322 points, a personal best, on 1-meter as the team won the event with a total score of 345.55. Beckwith also totaled 320 points on 3-meter to take second, only five points out of first-place. Her 1-meter win marked the eighth event title of her Mizzou career.
Fritter swept the 1-meter scramble and 3-meter at the Showdown, with individual scores of 352 and 312, respectively, for the first two event victories of his career. As a team, the junior helped Missouri to a team 1-meter total of 352.40. Fritter was a 2015 SEC All-Freshman Team honoree after placing eighth on platform at the SEC Championships.
The Tigers are back in action on Friday, Oct. 14 as they host Alabama at Noon CT at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
