COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 15 Mizzou Baseball will have 10 of its games in 2016 featured on national television through the Southeastern Conference's television deal with ESPN, as announced by the SEC on Thursday (Jan. 14). In addition to Mizzou's 10 games on the ESPN family of networks, Mizzou's game at Florida on March 18 will be featured as part of a four-hour Bases Loaded special on SEC Network, a show that will feature a compilation of all seven SEC games taking place on opening night of league action.
Seven of Mizzou's 10 televised games will air on SEC Network while the remaining three will air live on ESPNU. Following the Bases Loaded special, Mizzou's first televised game will be on March 26 when it hosts Vanderbilt at 5 p.m. at Taylor Stadium. The Sunday game of the Vanderbilt series will also be televised at noon.
Next, the final two games of Mizzou's series at Arkansas (April 2-3) will be featured on SEC Network with start times scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively. Mizzou will be featured on ESPNU for the first time when Auburn visits Taylor Stadium on April 7 at 6:30 p.m. The Tigers will again be featured on ESPNU on April 30 when Tennessee visits Columbia on Alumni Weekend at Taylor Stadium. That game is slated for a 3 p.m. first pitch. The Sunday game of the Tennessee series (May 1) will air on SEC Network at noon.
SEC Network will then air its first nonconference Mizzou Baseball game when the Tigers and Illinois battle at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill., on May 3 at 6 p.m. Mizzou's TV slate is rounded out during its first trip to Dudy-Noble as members of the SEC as the Thursday and Friday games against Mississippi State are slated for SEC Network and ESPNU, respectively. The full schedule is below.
This year's schedule also includes five wildcard selections, allowing the network the opportunity to determine the best television matchup at a later date. The schedule closes out with SEC Network airing the entirety of the SEC Baseball Tournament, outside of the Championship game on ESPN2. More than 90 Southeastern Conference baseball games have been slated to air across ESPN networks, including 75 on SEC Network. Coverage of the conference sport on national television has quadrupled since SEC Network launched last year.
In addition to Mizzou's televised games through the ESPN deal, every game at Taylor Stadium will be streamed on SEC Network-Plus with the exception of Mizzou's March 5 doubleheader vs. UIC. All SEC games at opposing schools will be on SEC Network-Plus as well.
