COLUMBIA, Mo. - After a successful weekend in College Station with the Texas A&M Invitational, the men and women of Mizzou Cross Country find themselves moving up through the Midwest Regional Rankings, as released by the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) on Monday (September 28). Both teams now sit within the top ten of the region, with the men holding the seventh-place ranking and the women sixth.
These changes come after the Tiger women took second, the men third, at the Texas A&M Invitational on Saturday (September 26). The women, who fell only to nationally-ranked Texas (No. 27) by a mere five points, were led by top-30 finishes by their five scorers, with sophomore Karissa Schweizer at the helm with her sixth-place finish, followed by sophomore Jamie Kempfer (13th), freshmen Kate Smith (20th) and Kelli Jackson (23rd), and junior Teylar Adelsberger (30th). The men were, once again, led by the duo of junior Jordan Cook (14th) and sophomore Marc Dubrick (15th). Rounding out the top five was sophomore Evan Schulte (23rd), sophomore Sheldon Keence (27th) and junior Ian McGinn (32nd).
The Tigers will make a quick turnaround, traveling to South Bend, Ind., this week for the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, October 2. For the latest on Mizzou Cross Country, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on Twitter @MIZ_TrackField.
