GREENVILLE, S.C. – Mizzou Women's Golf had a strong showing during the first 18 holes of the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman on Sunday. The Tigers posted a collective 293 (+5) and closed the opening day three shots back from the lead, sitting in fourth place out of 17 teams.
Michelle Butler (Dunedin, Fla.) led Mizzou by shooting a 2-under par 70, which was the second-best score of the day among all competitors. Jessica Meek (Carnoustie, Scotland) carded an even par 72 that tied for the seventh-lowest score of the round. Emma Allen (Southampton, England) finished with a 75 (+3) and Haelena Schwemmer (O'Fallon, Mo.) shot a 76 (+4) to round out the scoring for the Tigers.
Clemson leads the tournament with an overall total of 290 (+2), led by the lowest round of the day from Alice Hewson with a 5-under par 67. New Mexico is in second after recording a 291 (+3) while Wake Forest is one spot ahead of Mizzou in third after shooting a 292 (+4).
