COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Tennis wrapped up play at the Mizzou Invitational with 29 total match wins. Five different Tigers secured a Mizzou Invitational title on Sunday at the Plaza Tennis Center as head coach Sasha Schmid's team finished the tournament on a high note.
Senior Kelli Hine, junior Bea Machado Santos and junior Brittany Lashway all concluded the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record in singles matches. The trio of Tigers took home titles at No. 1 singles, No. 2 singles and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Brianna Lashway and Santos took home the doubles title at the No. 1 spot as the pair picked up two convincing victories over Penn State and Nebraska together during the weekend. Brianna Lashway played five times at No. 1 doubles throughout the tournament, competing with both Santos and junior Cassidy Spearman, and compiled a 4-1 record in those five matches. Brittany Lashway added a second Mizzou Invite title, winning the No. 3 doubles crown playing alongside sophomore Clare Raley.
Raley left Kansas City with a 5-0 record in doubles matches. Additionally, she only dropped one singles match and finished the weekend with a 7-1 overall individual record.
Mizzou's 29 total match wins through all three days of competition were the most by any team at the tournament. The Tigers entered Sunday with 21 wins under their belt and continued their success on Sunday, making a statement early on in the doubles session. Mizzou swept all three matches against Penn State and concluded the weekend with team doubles victories over all other competing schools.
The Tigers went on to have a successful afternoon in singles against Louisville. Hine pocketed a third singles victory at the No. 1 spot for the weekend 7-6(5) 6-0.
