
Milner Joins Mizzou Men's Golf as Assistant Coach

Leroux adds experienced collegiate and amateur standout to the program
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Men's Golf head coach Mark Leroux announced the addition of Grant Milner to his program as assistant coach on Friday, adding immediate high-level golf experience and character for the Tigers.
"Grant is a young, accomplished person who will have such a positive impact on our student-athletes at Mizzou," Leroux said. "He has incredibly strong experience in the sport of golf and professionally in his work in the media. He is someone who can show our student-athletes the right thing to do at all times."
The Conference USA Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2012-13 season, Milner led Memphis to its third-straight NCAA Tournament as a redshirt junior. Milner paced the group with a 73.8 stroke average and recorded five Top 20 and four Top 10 finishes, including a victorious performance at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
"Grant has demonstrated throughout his golfing career the ability to play at a high level, winning Division I collegiate events and numerous other amateur championships," Leroux said. "That experience, along with his excellent communication skills, will allow Grant to be an outstanding teacher and ambassador for our program."
Milner helped lead Memphis to the NCAA Championship Finals as a redshirt sophomore, with the squad placing 28th nationally to conclude the 2011-12 campaign. Memphis also claimed the Conference USA team championship.
"I am honored to be a part of the Mizzou Men's Golf program," Milner said. "First and foremost, I would like to thank Coach Leroux and the administration for this incredible opportunity. I am excited to get started assisting Coach Leroux and continuing his long run of success in Columbia, as well as represent Mizzou in a first-class manner."
A long-time presence on the amateur circuit in his youth, Milner was named the Knoxville Sentinel's 2008 Player of the Year. He additionally was rated at the 79th best player in the country by the Junior Golf Scoreboard.
A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Milner graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor's degree in journalism with an emphasis in broadcast news in December 2013. After graduation, Milner began work in the media with GoTigers247.com, the 247Sports Network's affiliate covering Memphis Athletics.
