18-game schedule brings likes of Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Florida to Mizzou Arena
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southeastern Conference announced the Mizzou Men's Basketball 2016 league schedule live on SEC Network Wednesday night, with the 18-game slate bringing exciting competition to Mizzou Arena through the months of January, February and March.
Head coach Kim Anderson's squad faces three of the SEC's five 2015 NCAA Tournament teams twice, with road matchups against the remaining two (at Kentucky, Jan. 27, 2016; at LSU, March 1, 2016).
"We once again have an exciting and challenging SEC schedule," Anderson said. "Our first order of business is to continue to grow and develop in the non-conference portion of the schedule, and then carry that over to an always-tough SEC slate. We are looking forward to getting started next week as school begins on Monday."
The Tigers open SEC play at Georgia on Jan. 6, 2016, with a 6 p.m. CT tipoff on the SEC Network. The Bulldogs make the return trip to Mizzou Arena on Jan. 20, 2016, at 6 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
Mizzou hosts Arkansas on Jan. 12, 2016, scheduled to start at 8 p.m. CT on the SEC Network. The Tigers and Razorbacks meet in Fayetteville, Ark., on Feb. 20, 2016, tipping off at 6:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
Ole Miss visits Columbia, Mo., on Feb. 3, 2016, with the matchup set to begin at 8 p.m. CT on the SEC Network. Mizzou hits the road for Oxford, Miss., on Feb. 23, 2016, with tipoff scheduled for 8 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
Anderson's group gets three more of the SEC's postseason teams on the road in Texas A&M, Alabama and Vanderbilt, all participants in last season's National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The Tigers face the Aggies on Jan. 23, 2016, at 3 p.m. CT on the SEC Network, and get the Crimson Tide on Feb. 6, 2016, at 2 p.m. CT on the SEC Network. Mizzou will host Texas A&M on Feb. 27, 2016, at 3 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
The Tigers head to Vanderbilt on Feb. 10, 2016, with the matchup tipping off at 8 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
Mizzou will play back-to-back conference home games three times during the 2016 schedule, first with an ESPN2 game vs. Auburn on Jan. 9, 2016, that is followed by the Tigers' first game vs. Arkansas (Jan. 12).
The Tigers host Mississippi State and Ole Miss on Jan. 30, 2016 (7:30 p.m. CT), and Feb. 3, 2016 (8 p.m. CT), both on the SEC Network.
Mizzou hosts another SEC Network double on Feb. 13, 2016, and Feb. 16, 2016, with Tennessee (2 p.m. CT) and South Carolina (6 p.m. CT) coming to Mizzou Arena.
The SEC Tournament will be held from March 9-13, 2016, at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
