- Mizzou closed the gap in the all-time series to 3-2 and the Tigers now lead the Bayou Bengals in the series, 2-1, since Mizzou joined the SEC.
- Mizzou held LSU to just 67 points on Thursday, despite the overtime. It marks the 12th time this season that Mizzou has held its opponent to under 75 points and seventh straight.
- Mizzou limited LSU to zero second-chance points in the first half, marking the fourth time this season that Mizzou has not allowed a second-chance point in the opening frame (SEMO, Elon, Valparaiso).
- Mizzou outscored LSU in the paint, 16-8, in the first half on Thursday. It marked the second time this season that Mizzou doubled-up its opponent in the paint in the opening half (Oral Roberts was the other).
- Looking deeper into the paint numbers, Mizzou outscored LSU, 36-24, in the paint on Thursday. It was just the second time this season and first time in 12 games that LSU has been outscored in the paint. LSU's 24 paint points are a season-low as they came into the game averaging 41.8 points per game in the paint.
- Sophomore guard Wes Clark tallied 13 points on Thursday, his most since Nov. 19 when he had 14 against Oral Roberts.
- Mizzou did a nice job defensively on LSU's Jarell Martin, who came into the game averaging an SEC-best 18.2 points per game. He finished the game with nine points, less than half of his season average.
- In fact, Mizzou did a nice job on LSU's top two scorers. Martin and Jordan Mickey combined for just 18 points in the loss, despite coming into the game averaging a combined 34.5 (18.3 and 16.2, respectively).
- Thursday marked the eighth consecutive game that Johnathan Williams III has scored in double-figures. It was also the 12th time in 13 games that he has reached double-figures.
- Williams III has scored at least 15 and grabbed at least eight boards in the last eight games for the Tigers. He tallied his sixth career double-double on Thursday with 21 points and 10 boards.
- Freshman Jakeenan Gant started for the third consecutive game on Thursday.
- Mizzou's defense was very good to open the game, forcing LSU to miss six of its first seven shots while forcing four LSU turnovers in that span.
- Senior forward Keanau Post scored a season-high 12 points on Thursday. He now has 19 points over his last two games after scoring just 20 all season before his two-game explosion. In fact, he had not seen action in the previous two games before the year rolled over to 2015. He also has 17 boards over his last two games despite grabbing just 20 in Mizzou's first 11 games.
- Freshman Namon Wright hit a trio of three-pointers on Thursday, matching his total from the previous four games combined. His nine points against LSU also match his total from the previous three games combined.
