"We didn't come out ready to play and we didn't respond well when things didn't go our way," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "What I'm most disappointed in is a lot of our mistakes are mental. We have a lot to work on and we don't have a lot of time before we play Xavier tonight."
Defensively, senior libero Sarah Meister (San Diego, Calif.) recorded 16 digs. She moves to seventh in school history at Mizzou for career digs with 1,152.
Mizzou and Oakland traded points early on in the first set until the Grizzlies broke things happen and used a 7-2 run to go up 15-10. The Tigers never got within three points again and dropped the opening frame 19-25.
Mizzou responded well in the second set. After two blocks and a kill from Kan, the Tigers seized a 12-9 advantage. Little tied her season-high for blocks with five. Oakland eventually battled back to knot the game up at 21-21, but the Tigers edged out the 25-23 set victory when Kan ripped a clutch kill down the line.
Again, the Grizzlies were not phased by the momentum shift. Neither squad had a lead larger than three and the scored was tied 18-18 before Oakland finished the set on a 7-1 run.
The fourth and final set was all Oakland as the Grizzlies jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead. The Tigers trailed throughout and Oakland polished off its match victory with a 25-11 set win.
