
Reedy Takes Second on 1-Meter at SEC Championships

ATHENS, Ga. - The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams kicked off competition at the 2014 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga. The Tiger women and men, behind a second-place finish for sophomore Lauren Reedy on the women's 1-meter and a third-place by senior David Bonuchi on the 1-meter, sit in sixth (127 point) and tied for seventh (124 points).
On the women's side, Georgia (187) sits in first, followed by Tennessee (153) and Florida (139). Auburn (192) leads the men's field, ahead of Texas A&M (142) and Florida (139).
Reedy got the Tigers off to a strong start in the finals session with her runner-up finish on the women's 1-meter. The sophomore earned a spot in finals with a seventh-place prelims finish with 293.65. In the finals, Reedy notched solid dives to sit in fourth after two rounds but faltered in round three to fall to eighth after a score of 25.2. She responded, however, with dives of 63.0, 63.7 and 62.4 in her final three tries to jump all the way to second-place, just three points out of first.

In the 200 medley relay, the Tiger men's quartet of junior Sam Tierney, senior Mark Conroy, senior Logan Mosley and freshman Michael Chadwick notched an NCAA `A' cut time and set a school record with a 1:25.55 to finish in seventh.
The Mizzou women's 200 medley relay team of junior Emily Doucette, freshman Katharine Ross, junior Danielle Barbiea and sophomore Anna Patterson took seventh in a time of 1:37.56.
The final event of the night was the 800 free relay. The men's team of Chadwick and juniors Andrew Phillips, Alex Glogoza and Eegan Groome clocked a time of 6:28.09 to finish eighth. On the women's side, Patterson, freshman Brittany Hammond, senior Lexi Spivak and freshman Ellie Suek took ninth in a season best 7:16.07.
Day two action preliminary action at the SEC Championships begins Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET.
