COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou volleyball lost to LSU, 3-0 (19-25, 20-25, 19-25), on Friday evening (Oct. 17) at the Hearnes Center. The loss dropped the Tigers to 12-9 on the year and 3-3 in SEC play while snapping the Tigers' 12-match home SEC winning streak, which was the longest active streak in the conference. Freshman Kasey Reuter (Sioux City, Iowa) made her first career start and tallied a career-high nine kills on .412 hitting. Sophomore Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) led the Tigers with 12 kills and pulled in eight digs.
"We just made too many unforced errors tonight," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "Give a lot of credit to LSU; they are athletic and make a lot of good plays, but in the end we just made errors at critical parts of each set. There were some bright spots - I thought Kasey and Julia did some nice things. We just have to get back in the gym and get better and prepare for Mississippi State."
Aside from Reuter and Kan, sophomore middle Julia Towler (Blue Springs, Mo.) had a nice night with five kills on .571 hitting with two blocks. Senior Whitney Little (Keller, Texas) added four kills and two blocks. Senior libero Sarah Meister (San Diego, Calif.) led the Tigers with 12 digs and 10 different Tigers tallied digs in the loss. The setting duo of Loxley Keala (Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Ali Kreklow (Columbia, Mo.) finished with 30 assists, each finishing with 15.
Mizzou struggled to slow All-SEC middle Briana Holman, who tallied 12 kills on .611 hitting with a match-high five blocks. LSU hit .317 hitting and finished with 44 kills as a team while limiting Mizzou to .218 hitting with just 38 kills.
Mizzou will be back in action Sunday at Mississippi State at 1 p.m. SEC Network will broadcast the match. For all the latest on Mizzou Hoops, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on twitter @MizzouHoops.
