Head Coach Robin Pingeton
On the team's attack mentality tonight...
"I felt like we missed some of our opportunities to get the ball inside, we've got to get better on the perimeter, being willing to attack the rim. Bree Fowler came in and did a nice job, Lindsey had a couple nice drives to the basket and Sierra Michaelis is going to continue to just grow and get better every night out."
On the foul trouble today...
"I would say I must not be a very good job at coaching because I'm not sure what some of those calls are. And we've got to be able to figure that out as coaches. I've got to do a better job as a coach of understanding where we're messing up at. I do know for a fact that we can't have those player in foul trouble as we enter the SEC."
On the non-conference slate...
"I would say it's been very solid. We've had some peaks and valleys, some shining moments some areas of weaknesses. You think about 12-some points against a team like Bradley, and then you look at 26 turnovers against Missouri State so there's definitely been some peaks and valleys. But I would say solid in regards to the growth that I've seen on the court, in our locker room, our culture. Young kids are stepping up, our rotations. I think there's a lot of positives, we've steadily improved defensively, offensively we've got a lot of firepower but we've got to get more consistent and a little bit better with our movement. It's all controllable and all areas that we will continue to improve on."
Freshman Jordan Frericks
On coming out today after the MSU loss...
"We obviously learned from that game, and that's the best we can do from that game. Coming out strong into this game really meant a lot knowing that we can bounce back like that."
On the non-conference play so far...
"There's always room for improvement, but I think we are ready. There are some things we need to improve on, but SEC is starting and I think a lot of us are going to have that mentality to get things going."
On the importance of offensive rebounds...
"Offensive rebounds are very important, they come unnoticed sometimes and just getting that extra play brings energy to our team and it's another opportunity to score. I think we did a great job on that tonight.
Junior Morgan Eye
On SEC play...
"I think we're ready. SEC is just fun. Every game you have to give it your all. Anything can happen any night. That's what's so fun about the SEC. I think Jordan did a great job with her post defense today. Coach has really been challenging her to have that ball-side foot. I thought she did a great job today. We have to carry that over and keep playing aggressive on defense."
On Jordan Frericks...
"J does a great job for us. I just love how poised she is, I feel like that second half she came out and she was not going to be stopped, and no matter if she missed that first bucket she was going to get that rebound and put it back. I love that about her. I've told her before, you know, sometimes there's a loose ball and somehow she comes away with it. She works hard, and I'm glad she's on my team."
On the non-conference play so far...
"I think we've done a good job. Definitely a lot of areas we need to improve on and we know that. But where we are now from the first game this season, we have definitely improved. I think we're ready for the SEC."
