Coach Pingeton Quotes
Opening Statement...
"I Give Baylor a ton credit; they turned a 12-point game to a 25-point game in a matter of minutes. In the first half, we weathered the storm, we competed and battled and clawed back. We talked about the importance of the first four minutes of the second half, talked about turnovers, the first four minutes of that second half has been a struggle of ours and we need to find out how to adjust. We need to come out stronger in the gates in the second half. Baylor is a good team with the best player in the country. They talk about Brittney Griner but have a strong supporting cast."
On what makes Baylor so good...
"They are all McDonald's All-Americans, they have a roster full of them, They have a high basketball IQ, great athleticism. They have explosiveness and quickness. They can guard on the perimeter. Obviously, Brittney can guard on the perimeter. They can score a variety of ways. They can get to the rim and post. Dribble drives transition and their transition game is very aggressive and when you have a turnover in the open court, there is going to be a layup on the other end."
On strategy preparing for Baylor...
"We play them differently then you play someone else in the conference. We have to adjust so much to what we typically do. A large part of that is due to Brittney Griner. Just trying to create some place and angels in and opportunities in the paint. Brittney can still go out on the perimeter and still guard it because of her length, so yes you do make some adjustments, but everybody faces them in the conference."

On what is gained from the loss...
"Not a lot of people can say they played the No. 1 team in the nation. I felt collectively we went out there and played hard and never gave up. We can take what we didn't do and get better at that in practice for our next game."
On the frustration of turnovers...
"To be honest, we are not allowed to get frustrated because that causes deflation. We can build off of that. We know we can't do to get that turnover and we can change that. We can do what we can."

Coach Kim Mulkey
On the difference in the game...
"I thought they used up the shot clock quite a bit to shorten the game, keep it low scoring. They stayed in the zone and challenged us to basically be patient and to work it around. We got Brittney Griner touches and got some perimeter shots. I thought the difference later in the game in the second half particularly was our defensive pressure. We got a lot of transition buckets and that just kind of opened up the game."
On an effort to focus on Christina Flores...
"No, she didn't guard her. She started the game on BreAnna Brock. They were trying to spread the floor and you know Christine Flores shot four threes and BreAnna Brock shot four threes, so they were spreading bringing Brittany Griner out. I just told them to communicate and take whichever one was in the paint. It wasn't to stop Christine Flores; it was just go play good defense. It wasn't a game plan to stop her or anything."
On the different approaches opponents have taken to try and stop them....
"We have seen it all. I told the kids in the scouting report. Expect two post players who can shoot the three to take you outside. Expect them to shorten the game, keep it low scoring and just be patient on defense. Be disciplined on defense in the last ten seconds of the shot clock. You're going to see a zone. Everything I told them came true tonight, but it's not something we haven't seen."

Junior Brittney Griner
On not dunking in games...
"I do not really have the opportunity sometimes. I know everyone says you are 6'8 so you should be able to turn around and dunk it, but it is not that easy. It is hard dunking with big people on you."
On holding to Christine Flores to seven points, 12 below her season average...
"I do not think I was really matched up on her, but whoever is the low post is who I take or whoever I am guarding. Coach always stresses defense and I feel we do that to hold players under their average."
