- Missouri faced the Associated Press' No. 1-ranked club at Faurot Field for the fifth time in facility history and for the first time since a 45-38 loss to Nebraska in 1997. Missouri did upset Oklahoma (36-27) at home in 2010 when the Sooners were ranked No. 1 in the Bowl Championship Series standings. Mizzou is now 0-5 at home vs. the AP No. 1.
- It was Missouri's second meeting with Alabama when the Crimson Tide was ranked No. 1. The Tide won that game 38-20 at Faurot Field on Sept. 16, 1978.
- Today's game was suspended at 3:44 p.m. due to lightning. It was resumed 38 minutes later.
- Alabama scored on the game's opening possession, marking the first points allowed by the Tiger defense in a game-opening drive this season. In fact it is the first time a team this season has scored on Mizzou on its opening drive of either the first or second half.
- Marcus Murphy returned a kickoff 98 yards to open the scoring for the Tigers. The 98-yard kickoff score was the first of Murphy's career and his fourth return score (three punt, one kickoff) of the season. Murphy's four return scores this year mark a new school record. John Mosley had three return scores (two punt, one kickoff) in 1973.
- Andrew Baggett connected on a 41-yard field goal, pushing his success rate to 8-of-12 this year. The freshman has now made five consecutive field goal attempts. It was actually the first field goal Alabama has allowed in 2012.
- Trey Barrow boomed a 69-yard punt in the first quarter, his longest of the season. Barrow's career best is actually a 74-yarder last season vs. Texas. He also had a 73-yarder at Arizona State in 2011.
- Bud Sasser earned his first career start. Sasser started at the Z-receiver following last week's 100-yard game.
- Kendial Lawrence had a 22-yard rush in the first quarter, his sixth rush of 20+ yards this season.
- Michael Sam pushed his season sack total to 4.0 with 1.5 sacks on the game. His first sack resulted in a forced fumble on Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron. Zaviar Gooden recovered the fumble, his first of 2012 and fourth of his career.
- He later forced his second fumble of 2012 vs. running back Eddie Lacy.
- Overall the Tigers forced a pair of Crimson Tide turnovers. Alabama entered today's game with just three turnovers all season (all fumbles).
