Austin, Texas.- BreAnna Brock's double-double was not enough to hold off the Longhorns on Wednesday (Jan. 25) as the Tigers dropped to 10-8 on the season. The 75-58 loss to Texas (13-6, 3-4) moves the Tigers down to 0-7 in conference play. Despite the loss, Brock was a standout for the team earning her fifth double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. She also snagged a team-leading three steals on the night. Senior Christine Flores recorded three rejections on the night, tying the school record for career blocks with 177 total.
The Longhorns kicked into high gear right from the start, opening the game on an 11-0 run, but that didn't phase the Tigers. With a slight change to the starting lineup, Missouri hit two free throws right out of the under-16 media timeout to start the scoring in the half. Two free throws from Flores sparked a 7-0 run for the Tigers that brought the score to 15-12. With a lead of just three points, the Longhorns took advantage of the court and brought the score to 33-18. Missouri ended the first half on a 16-4 run that brought the Tigers within five points. At half, the score was 39-34 in favor of the Longhorns.
The two teams traded baskets to start the second half, but the Tigers could not catch up. The Longhorns held the lead throughout the entire second half to top the Tigers 75-58. In addition to Brock, Flores scored in double figures on the night. She was just two boards away from a double-double as she tallied 12 points and eight rebounds on the night. Missouri shot 38.9 percent from behind the arc in the game, and Brock was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
The Tigers head back to Columbia on Jan. 28 to host Oklahoma in a double-header with the Men's Basketball team.
