COLUMBIA, Mo. - Senior Ricardo Ratliffe led five Tigers in double figures with 21 points as the University of Missouri men's basketball team concluded exhibition action with an 88-70 win over the University of Central Missouri Monday night at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers finished exhibition play with a perfect 3-0 mark.
Mizzou shot over 50 percent from the field for the third straight exhibition contest, as the team made 33-of-64 shots on the night for 51.6 percent.
Ratliffe's 21 points came on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor, while he also grabbed a game high nine boards. Junior Michael Dixon posted 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting, senior Marcus Denmon scored 15 points, senior Kim English notched 13 and senior Matt Pressey added 12. Additionally, sophomore Phil Pressey dished out a game high nine assists.
The score remained close through the game's opening 10 minutes, with the Mules holding a 19-17 advantage with 10:55 left in the first half. Mizzou got things going on the offensive end and reeled off a 14-0 run over the next 4:36 to build a 31-19 advantage with 6:19 on the clock. Four different Tigers scored during the stretch, including six points from Dixon and five from Ratliffe.
Missouri continued to increase its lead in the waning minutes of the first frame and entered the break with an 18-point advantage, 46-28.
The two teams played even throughout most of the second half, with the Tigers going up by as many as 22 and the Mules cutting their deficit to as little as 15.
Matt Webb led four Central Missouri Mules in double figures with 18 points.
The Tigers officially open the 2011-12 season on Friday, Nov. 11 as the team hosts the SEMO Redhawks at 7 p.m. at Mizzou Arena.
