The loss is the second-straight to a top-12 opponent for the Tigers.

The Tigers also got nice performances from senior outside hitter Julianna Klein (Keota, Iowa), who hit a team-best .333 with 14 kills. Freshman setter Molly Kreklow (Delano, Minn.) also had a fine match as she spread 47 assists to five different attackers while tallying a pair of kills and a pair of block assists. Junior middle hitter Brittney Brimmage (East St. Louis, Ill.) also finished in double-figures as she tallied 10 kills in the loss while pitching in four block assists.
The Tiger back row was anchored by libero Caitlyn Vann (Muncie, Ind.) as she corralled 18 digs. She was the only Tiger to finish in double-digits but Mizzou's back row saw seven different players pull in a dig in the match. Junior DS Priscilla Armendariz (Blue Springs, Mo.) pulled in nine digs while Kreklow added eight more. The Tigers' block was another highlight on Wednesday as Mizzou tied its season-high with 11 in the match. Ampudia led the charge with seven (one solo, six assists) while Catie Wilson (Omaha, Neb.) added six more block assists.
Despite the defensive effort of the Tigers, who pulled in 53 digs and 11 blocks, they were unable to slow Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year Juliann Faucette, who posted 22 kills - one off of a career-best - on .280 hitting. The Tigers also struggled to keep Texas out of system in the final three sets as freshman setter Hannah Allison spread a career-best 58 assists on 66 Texas kills. The Texas back row also played well, highlighted by a career night from libero Sydney Yogi, who corralled 27 digs.
Mizzou claimed the first set in thrilling fashion, topping the Longhorns in extra points at 27-25. The second set remained close, but the Tigers ran out to an 18-15 lead. The Longhorns rallied to knot the score at 19 and then took six of the next seven points thanks to a great service rotation from Faucette as UT claimed the second, 25-20. The third set was equally as close as Mizzou hung around until a late charge gave UT the third, 25-23. Mizzou hung around in the third set but hit just .128 as Texas claimed the fourth, 25-21.
Mizzou will return to action on Saturday as it heads to Manhattan, Kan., for a 7 p.m. showdown with Kansas State. For all the latest on Mizzou volleyball, stay tuned to MUTigers.com.
