Mizzou Football Game Notes
Mizzou (3-0), San Diego State (2-1)
Sept. 18, 2010 - Columbia, Mo.
Team Notes
- Missouri improved its record vs. San Diego State to 3-0 all-time.
- Missouri ran its regular season non-conference winning streak to 20 games. Missouri's last non-conference loss in the regular season came vs. New Mexico in 2005. Coincidentally, SDSU's defensive coordinator, Rocky Long, was the head coach at New Mexico for that game.
- Head coach Gary Pinkel won his 70th game at Mizzou. He is third all-time at Missouri with those 70 victories.
- Missouri's defense has been solid on fourth down this year. Opponents are just 1-of-4 in such situations.
- Missouri's 12-play scoring drive in the third quarter en route to a 38 yard Grant Ressel field goal tied the longest drive (by plays) of the year. The Tigers also had a 12-play drive vs. Illinois, which also ended with a Ressel field goal.
- Missouri also had its longest scoring drive (by yards) with its game-winning 88-yard drive. The drive did include T.J. Moe's game-winning 68-yard TD grab. The previous long was 77 yards vs. Illinois. That Illinois drive resulted in the TD grab from Moe in the back of the endzone.
- Missouri recorded its second fourth-quarter comeback of the season. The Tigers trailed Illinois in the fourth quarter as well.
- Missouri picked off its seventh pass of the season. The Tigers had just eight INT's all of last season.
- Missouri's offense racked up a season-high 440 yards. The previous high was 438 yards last week at McNeese State.
- Here is a statistical oddity. Both Missouri and San Diego State had 440 yards of total offense. SDSU ran 77 plays and Missouri ran 78. Missouri's 78th play was, of course, the game-winner.
- Missouri had three turnovers in the game, including a pair of interceptions. Missouri was (minus) -2 in turnover differential and entered the game +6.
- Although the Tigers won the game late, Missouri was excellent in the redzone on Saturday, going a perfect 4-of-4.
Individual Notes
- De'Vion Moore recorded his second touchdown of the season to open the game's scoring. Moore ran 17 yards for the score. The two TDs for Moore this season are a new career high.
- Blaine Gabbert threw for a season-high 351 yards. He now has seven career 300-yard passing days and has topped 200 yards in eight consecutive games.
- Michael Egnew caught a career high 13 passes for a career high 145 yards. Egnew has topped double-figures in catches twice this year, including a former career high 10 vs. Illinois.
- T.J. Moe caught his second TD of the year on his career-long 68-yard reception. The sophomore also finished the game with seven more catches and has a team-high 30 receptions on the year. Egnew is second on the club with 29.
- Carl Gettis enjoyed a career long 31-yard punt return in the first quarter. His previous best was 27 yards set last season.
- Zavier Gooden recovered a fumble for the second consecutive week. The sophomore has two fumble recoveries this season and three for his career.
- Aldon Smith registered his third sack of the season. Smith leads the team in that category.
- Brandon Gerau made his second catch of the season in the second quarter, but it was a career long for the senior, covering 28 yards. His previous long was 14 yards.
- Grant Ressel has made seven consecutive field goals this season since missing his opening kick of the year. For his career Ressel is 33-of-35 on field goal tries.
- Over the last two seasons Gabbert has feasted on non-conference teams (regular season) hitting 175-of-261 passes for 1,213 yards and 15 passing scores and two TDs.
- Kevin Rutland picked off his second pass of the season to stop a San Diego State scoring drive.
