Meet Notes
Women
- Lisa Koll (Iowa State) became the first four-time Big 12 Outdoor Champion on the women's side in league history with her time of 33:51.74 in the 10,000-m run. Her time also broke the Walton Stadium record that had been held by Colorado's Tera Moody since 1998.
- Nebraska's Chantae McMillan scored 1,837 in the first two events on the women's heptathlon and sits in first with 3,388 points after day one. McMillan clocked a time of 14.41 in the 100m hurdles and cleared 1.75m (5-8 ¾) in the high jump.
- McMillan and Texas A&M's Daphne Fitzpatrick lead the heptathlon with 3,388 points and 3,353 points, respectively. They are the only two athletes in the competition to post at least 3,330 points on day one.
Men
- John Kosgei (Oklahoma State) won the men's 10,000-m run and set a new stadium record with a time 29:24.21. The first four finishers in the race broke the stadium record that had stood since 1998.
- Trinity Otto (Texas A&M) set a new PR with a throw of 14.21m (46-7 ½) in the decathlon shot put.
- Jacob Bullinger (Missouri) threw 55.08m in the hammer throw to set a new PR, besting his old mark of 51.52m. The output also ranks him second best for MU this season. He earned the first All-Big 12 honor of his career after advancing to the finals by two centimeters.
- Eric Thomas (Kansas State) set a PR with a 51.94m in the hammer throw.
- Tomas Kirielius (Kansas State) cleared 2.04-m (6.8 1/2) in the decathlon high jump to set a new PR. His old mark was 1.93-m (6.04).
- After Friday's action, the top three leaders in the men's decathlon are separated by just 41 points. Missouri's Nick Adcock leads with 4,018, followed by Kansas State's Mantas Silkauskas with 4,011. MU's Lars Rise sits in third with 3,977.
- K.P. Singh (Oklahoma) won the hammer throw with a 65.69m (215-06), the best mark in the Big 12 all season.
