2/10/2010
Mizzou improved to 18-6 overall on the year, and 6-3 in Big 12 Conference play, with a hard fought 65-56 win over Iowa State (13-11, 2-7). Mizzou improves to 14-1 on the year at Mizzou Arena, and extends its winning streak over Iowa State to four overall. Coach Mike Anderson is now 5-2 against the Cyclones...
It was a tough shooting night for both teams, as the Tigers got the win despite making only 39.7% of their shots (23-of-58 FGs). Mizzou's leading scorer Kim English was held to only 9 points (thanks in large part to playing only 1:25 in the first half due to foul trouble), but he had arguably the biggest play of the night as he drilled a three-pointer from the top of the key with 1:44 remaining to make it a two-possession game, at 59-53. The Tigers hit 6-of-6 FTs down the stretch to salt away the win...
Mizzou's stout bench got things going in the first half, as it held a scoring advantage of 20-0 in the opening 20 minutes of play. The final tally on bench scoring for the night was MU 26, ISU 11...
