Mizzou Basketball Game notes
• – Mizzou survived a wild back-and-forth game to claim an 85-82 overtime win over Vanderbilt. The win improved Mizzou to 7-1 on the season, while Vanderbilt fell to 7-2. The win extended Mizzou's home non-conference winning streak to a school-record 51 games overall, including a perfect 44-0 under Head Coach Mike Anderson...
• – The overtime affair marked the second in three games and the second in eight days for the Tigers, and it avenged a 111-102 OT loss to Georgetown in Kansas City, Mo. on Nov. 30th...
• – Junior G Marcus Denmon was the star of the night for the Tigers, as he led the Tigers with 21 points, including the game-winning steal, drive and layin with :05 seconds left to give the Tigers an 84-82 lead. Fouled on the layin, Denmon sank the foul shot to account for the final score, and the Commodores couldn't connect on a contested three pointer from about 25 feet at the buzzer, to send the Tigers off a winner...
• – Denmon redeemed himself after a tough first half, when he was held to just 2 points on 1-of-6 shooting. He scored 13 points in the second half, and tallied 6 in the overtime period, adding a long three-pointer with 1:17 to play that put the Tigers on top, 80-79. • – The Tigers got the victory despite shooting a season-low 38.3% on the night (31-of-81 FGs). Vanderbilt had something to do with that certainly, as the Commodores blocked 10 shots. Mizzou made up for the tough shooting night by being active on the glass, as they outrebounded Vandy by a 45-40 margin. Vanderbilt came into the game Vanderbilt as the top rebounding team in the SEC, with a per-game rebounding margin of +9.6, but the Tigers were able to more than hold their own early on, as MU held a 15-8 advantage on the boards, which contributed to Mizzou's 25-22 lead at the 7:50 mark...
