
Mizzou Falls to No. 4 Tennessee

ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands - The University of Missouri women's basketball team fell 82-44 to No. 4 Tennessee on Thursday, Nov. 25 in Mizzou's first game in the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. The loss dropped the Tigers to 1-2 on the season while the Lady Volunteers improved to 5-0.
Senior RaeShara Brown had her second career and second consecutive double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Vols raced out to a quick 11-2 advantage just over five minutes into the contest. Sophomore Sydney Crafton ended the run after driving baseline and hitting a layup. Mizzou then used two more layups on consecutive possessions from Jones and Brown to cut the team's deficit to three, 11-8, with 13:28 remaining.
A jumper from Kamiko Williams put an end to Mizzou's run and jumpstarted 11 straight points for the Lady Vols for a 22-8 game with 8:44 on the clock.
Tennessee continued to pull away and gained its biggest lead of the half, 43-21, after a three-point play from Alicia Manning but Brown nailed a trey before the break for a 43-24 Lady Vol halftime advantage. Brown had 12 of Mizzou's 24 points in the first frame.
The Lady Vols scored the first 10 points of the second half before Brown sank two free throws to put Mizzou on the board. The Tigers struggled from the field in the second and did not hit their first field goal until Brown nailed a three with 13:26 left in the contest. Tennessee outscored Mizzou 39-20 in the final 20 minutes.
Mizzou continues play in the Paradise Jam with a matchup with No. 12 Georgetown on Friday, Nov. 26 at 6:45 p.m. Atlantic Time (4:45 p.m. Central Time). The Tigers then face Georgia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 27, also at 6:45 p.m. Atlantic Time.
