
KSU Snaps Mizzou's Winning Streak

MANHATTAN, Kan.- - Mizzou had its four-game winning streak snapped, falling to No. 21 Kansas State 11-5 on Sunday in the final game of the three-game series in Manhattan, Kan. The Tigers fall to 21-20 on the year and 8-10 in the Big 12, while KSU improves to 29-11 overall and 8-7 in conference play.
Seniors Austin Holt and Steve Gray and junior Greg Folgia all recorded two-hit ballgames and Gray drove in a pair of runs. Freshman Ryan Gebhart also had two RBI, with both coming on bases loaded hit-by-pitches.
Kansas State took the early lead scoring a run in both the first and third innings. In both cases the Wildcat leadoff batter singled and scored.
Missouri tied the game with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning, which started with junior Aaron Senne drawing a walk and Folgia being hit by a pitch. Later in the inning, Gray singled to drive in Senne and Gebhart was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in Folgia with the tying run.
KSU went back ahead by scoring five runs in fifth, with all five runs being unearned as two Mizzou errors aided the Wildcats in the inning. The big hit of the inning was a home run by Jordan Cruz which drove in three of the five runs in the fifth.
The Tigers cut into the lead by plating three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Folgia, junior Trevor Coleman and senior Kyle Mach each singled to start the inning and Gray followed with an RBI single, driving in Folgia. Coleman scored when Gebhart was again hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Mach scored as Liberto reached on a fielders' choice.
Kansas State scored one run in each of its last three at-bats, highlighted by a Drew Biery home run in the seventh inning.
The Tigers committed a season-high five errors in the game, leading to six unearned runs.
Missouri will be back in action on Wednesday as it faces Kansas at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
