WACO, Texas - - The second game of a Saturday doubleheader between Mizzou and No. 7 Baylor was all Bears, as they took a 19-0 win in seven innings. The game was halted after the seventh with the conference run-rule in effect for the doubleheader.
Baylor took the series, two games to one. Mizzou had won the last four series with BU heading into this weekend.
Missouri falls to 17-19 on the season and is 6-9 in the Big 12 Conference, while the Bears improve to 23-10 overall and 9-6 in conference games.
A six-run bottom of the first inning gave Baylor a large lead early in the game. The six runs came on five hits, four of which were doubles. The Bears added a run in the second inning to make it a 7-0 advantage.
Baylor put up another six-run inning in the fourth, getting a solo home run by Dustin Dickerson, a two-run single from Brooks Kimmey and a triple by Raynor Campbell, which drove in two runs. A Tiger error allowed Campbell to score on the play, which gave the Bears a 13-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, Baylor scored four more runs to extend it to a 17-0 lead. All four runs in that inning were unearned as a Missouri error allowed the inning to continue. The Bears then added two runs in the sixth on a two-run home run by Shaver Hansen.
The Tigers had just two hits on the night, which included a single by senior Ryan Lollis to lead off the game. Junior Aaron Senne had Missouri's other hit, coming in the form of a fourth-inning single.
Earlier in the day, the Tigers dropped game one of the doubleheader by a score of 8-7 in 11 innings.
Mizzou will host Indiana State in a two-game midweek series at Taylor Stadium. Game one of the series is set for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
