
Mizzou Defeats SLU at Busch

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - - Playing in Busch Stadium in St. Louis, the Missouri baseball team scored a season-high 19 runs and defeated Saint Louis University by a score of 19-6, on Wednesday night. The Tigers improved to 14-14 on the season, while SLU is now 14-13.
Mizzou fell behind after a three-run top of the first inning for Saint Louis, but answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. All four runs came after the first two batters were retired. Junior Greg Folgia had an RBI double, junior Aaron Senne delivered an RBI single and senior Steve Gray drove in two runs on a double.
The Tigers then added seven runs in the second inning on three runs, three walks, two hit batters and a pair of Billiken errors. Missouri sent 12 batters to the plate in the second and had RBI singles from Folgia, freshman Conner Mach and freshman Jonah Schmidt. Schmidt base hit drove in two.
After Saint Louis plated two in the top of the fourth, the Tigers plated one in the bottom of the inning, and added two more runs in the sixth inning. Mizzou had two runners cross the plate in the seventh inning and scored three times in the eighth, including two on double by freshman Ryan Gebhart.
Junior Michael Liberto had a career-high four hits, going 4-for-5 on the night with three RBI. Gray also drove in three runs, finishing the game 2-for-4.
Missouri used 10 pitchers on Wednesday, improving to 7-1 in games in which it has utilized the pitcher-by-committee plan. Sophomore Tyler Clark was credited with the win after striking out two in a scoreless second inning.
The Tigers return to Taylor Stadium this weekend to host Oklahoma in a three-game series. Game one of the weekend is set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
