
Mizzou Falls to Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. - - No. 15 Mizzou fell to No. 8 Arizona State, 3-1, on Tuesday in Tempe, Ariz. A well-pitched game by both teams saw Missouri utilized eight pitchers on the night as part of a planned staff pitching effort.
Junior Andrew Mueller started for the first time in his career and pitched a scoreless first inning. In addition, sophomore Tyler Clark, junior Ryan Allen, sophomore Brad Buehler, freshman Ryan Clubb and junior Greg Folgia each turned in one scoreless inning of work in the game.
The Tigers (1-4) out hit Arizona State 7-5, led by two-hit games by seniors Ryan Lollis and Kyle Mach. Lollis and Mach each recorded a triple and a single against Arizona State.
The game was scoreless through the first three innings before Jason Kipnis led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a home run and later in the fourth Jared McDonald connected on a solo home run to give ASU a 2-0 lead.
The Sun Devils (5-0) added a run in the fifth inning, as Drew Maggi scored on a sacrifice fly by Zack MacPhee.
Missouri scored its lone run of the game in the eighth inning as Lollis led off with a triple, then scored when junior Aaron Senne grounded out.
Mizzou and ASU will meet again on Thursday as part of this weekend's ASU DeMarini Invitational. The Tigers will play four games as part of the Invitational this weekend to conclude their season opening nine-game road trip.
