PHOENIX, Ariz. - - Missouri dropped its second-straight game, falling to Nevada 8-4 on Sunday at the Grand Canyon Classic in Phoenix, Ariz.
Mizzou fell behind when Matt Bowan homered in the first inning and trailed the entire game. It was a one-run game in the top of the seventh when Shaun Kort connected on a three-run home run to extend the Wolf Pack lead to 7-3. Nevada hit four home runs in the game and Bowman had two, the second coming in the top of the ninth inning.
Missouri had a runner on base in every inning, but left 14 runners on.
Junior Trevor Coleman had three hits in the game, finishing 3-for-5. Three Tigers, junior Greg Folgia, sophomore Andrew Thigpen and junior Michael Liberto each had two-hit games.
Trailing by five heading to the ninth inning, the Tigers scored a run and loaded the bases to bring the tying run to the plate, but a hard line drive by freshman Ben Turner was caught by Nevada's second baseman to end the game.
Missouri will conclude the Grand Canyon Classic against Gonzaga. The MU-Gonzaga gametime has been moved up to 2:15 p.m. central time.
