Columbia, Mo. - Using this week as a catapult for the Big 12 Indoor Championships next week, the Missouri track and field team would claim 13 of the more than 30 events in the first ever Missouri Collegiate Challenge.
Some the winners would include Leslie Farmer in the women's 400-meter dash, Bobby Schafer in the men's long jump, JaNay Woolridge in the women's long jump, Nick Adcock in the men's 60-meter hurdles and Brian Hancock with an NCAA-qualifying win in the men's pole vault.
Laura Brown, Angela Potrykus, Abbie Garlich, Krishna Lee, Jerron Forte, Aaron Dixon and Andy Oaker would all put Mizzou in the win column on Friday, while the men's 4x400-meter relay team would round out the Tiger victories.
In the field events, Oaker would beat out SIU-Edwardsville's Scott Block in the men's weight throw with a toss of 17.27 meters, as Lee would take the top spot in the women's shot put with a throw of 15.79 meters.
Hancock would best his previous vault of 5.20 meters with a leap of 5.22 meters on Friday, while the trio of Garlich, Hannah Cooper and Holly Stewart finished in the top three spots, as Garlich would be the only Tiger to hit the mark of 3.50 meters.
Schafer's final jump of 6.48 meters would give him the win in the men's long jump, while Wooldridge would hit the winning jump of 5.82 meters on her third attempt.
On the track, Farmer continues to excel at the 400-meter dash, winning in a time of 57.22 seconds, while Adcock's time of 8.10 in the men's 60-meter hurdles was enough for first place.
Missouri would double-up in the 600-yard run and 1,000-meter run, as Brown and Forte took the 600, while Potrykus and Dixon would sweep the 1,000.
The Tigers will remain home tomorrow, as they hose the Missouri All-Comers, with the day's action beginning at 8:30 a.m.
