Mizzou Basketball Post Game Quotes
Missouri vs. Tennessee-Martin
Nov. 17, 2009
On the game as a whole:
"It was great for our team to go out and get a win. I'm excited for our guys, especially the ones coming off the bench."
"I think that this was lesson one for our basketball team. I think the bench came in with a lot of energy."
"I'm more concerned about (21) turnovers. That's what I'm concerned about."
"This team continues to find its identity. And that's what these games are for."
On bench players' contributions:
"A guy like Steve Moore gives some great minutes. Mike Dixon came in and gave us a spark off the bench. And of course, Lawrence Bowers continues to be the guy that has been really doing well."
"But I think it's a team effort. They all really wear and tear."
"They scored 45 points tonight. That's not going to happen every night.
On JT Tiller's injury:
"J.T. has a sprained foot. We'll know more tomorrow."
"It's hard when you lose a guy like JT. He's the heart and soul of the basketball team. "
"What you miss most is JT's energy. He and Zaire really complement each other, and I think Zaire plays better when JT's around."
"He just does so much for our basketball team. It was very evident that he was not on the floor."
"Keith Ramsey...he did well tonight. I think he looked like a senior basketball player.
On Lawrence Bowers:
"Lawrence is really playing well. He's really smooth, and it seems like he's always in the right place at the right time. He's a highlight waiting to happen."
"For a while there he was pressing. He didn't really look like himself."
Missouri Player Quotes
"I think [J.T. Tiller] is doing fine, it wasn't anything major. The way we play, everybody is interchangeable. I just took it upon myself and I had the opportunity today."
"It's something I see a lot in practice. For some reason, Laurence likes to turn that way when he dunks. It's something he works and he's good at it, so why not."
On the big men doing well...
"I think we all played well. Big Steve [Moore] came in and helped us a lot. I think our bench was real important in what we did today. Justin and Keith played very well."
On corralling bad passes...
"It's nothing special, I just have a pretty good knack for the ball. I don't want my teammates to get a turnover so I'm going to do whatever I can to prevent that, even if it's a bad pass. I don't know, I just come up with it sometimes."
On improving on his game...
"I came into this year trying to be an all-around guy. I didn't want to base my game on offense or highlight plays. I tried to get a few blocks here and there, just try to be all-around. When I do get a chance to get a highlight, I'll try."
On being more prepared this year...
"I'm a hundred times more ready. I can run a lot better, my endurance is a lot better. I can compete this year versus last year, I was a lot heavier. It's a good feeling."
On starting the season off with a win...
"We were all excited, it was a lot of fun. We just wanted to come out and play hard. Tennessee -Martin, give them a lot of credit, they came out and played their hearts out and played without their best player. We just tried to come out and get better and get better as a team."
On playing together...
"This is what we do in practice. We take our practice to the game. Coach stresses that our time, taking our practice to the game, and that's what we did."
On Laurence Bowers' passing...
"He's a good passer. He's a combo type of player, he can put the ball on the floor, he can pass it and he's got vision."
