COLUMBIA, Mo. - - Oklahoma State evened the series with Missouri by taking a 6-2 win on Saturday at Taylor Stadium. A new regular season attendance record was set as 2,205 fans turned out for Saturday's game.
Oklahoma State (19-9, 5-6 Big 12) got on the board in the third inning, as Jordy Mercer drove in the Cowboy's first run of the series with a single. OSU added two runs in the fourth, both of which were unearned, as a Tiger error allowed the inning to continue.
Michael Dabbs gave Oklahoma State at 4-0 lead as he led off the top of the seventh inning with his second home run of the year.
Mizzou (22-7, 5-3) continue to find it difficult to score runs, as Oklahoma State starter Tyler Lyons recorded his second complete game of the season, allowing just two runs on seven hits. He struck out six to improve to 5-2 on the season.
Missouri did not score until the bottom of the eighth inning when sophomore Greg Folgia hit a two-run home run, the first of his career. That would be the only runs to cross the plate for the Tigers, who have scored three or fewer runs in five of their last seven games.
The Tigers had the bases loaded with one out in the fifth inning, but could not push any runners across.
Junior Ian Berger was handed his first loss of the season, as he allowed four runs, two earned, on six hits in 6.1 innings of work. He struck out six and walked one. The two earned runs allowed matched his season total heading into Saturday. His ERA is now 1.06, as he has allowed just four earned runs in 52.0 innings this year.
The deciding game of the three-game series is Sunday at 1 p.m. Sophomore Kyle Gibson (5-0) is scheduled to start for the Tigers, while Tyler Blandford (3-2) is the Cowboys projected starter.
