Black and Gold Game Quotes
April 19, 2008 - Faurot Field
QB Chase Daniel
On Saturday's attendance:
"That's awesome, there should be even more next year. 26,000, the weather wasn't great, so that fact really says something about our fan base, that they are out here to support us."
On the team's expectations:
"Yes, we have high expectations. That hasn't changed from day one when we first got here four years ago. It's fun, we aren't worried about outside expectations. We want to go out there and do all we can to win all these games."
WR Jeremy Maclin
On team chemistry:
"The team chemistry is definitely there. Guys believe in each other and the guys are filling their roles. Everything is really clicking right now. There is no doubt that we will pick up where we left off last season."
TB Derrick Washington
On Mizzou's offensive backs:
"We can get in (the end zone) from anywhere. We (running backs) know that when we are in the redzone we want the ball in our hands. If we get the opportunity, we will make the most of it."
LB Sean Weatherspoon
On spring ball:
"We did what we wanted to do. We wanted to become a more physical team. We went out there every day and worked hard. We definitely accomplished our main goals."
LB Luke Lambert
On his performance today compared to last spring's performance:
"This year I knew what I was doing. Last year I was kind of running around like a chicken with his head cut off. I'm much more comfortable here and I'm ready for another season."
Thoughts on the game as a whole:
"The day didn't start out so well weather-wise, but 27,000 fans at a spring game? I just can't say enough about that and how much our players appreciate it as well. As far as the game went, I thought that the one offense and the one defense both played well, we stayed healthy and there were a lot of guys getting a lot of experience out there."
Thoughts on the hard work this spring:
"Yeah they worked real hard, and that is what you are looking at all of the time, you just want to see the work ethic. Those are the things that ultimately will decide how good of a football team we are going to have this season."
Thoughts on the number of fans at the game:
"It's great, I think that it is a good statement for our program and honestly, this is the worst weather that we have had for a spring game since I have been here. To think that we would have 27,000 fans and national TV, it's a great statement."
Thoughts on if this is a national title team:
"We will focus on one thing, and when I show our schedule to our football team our goal is to win the Big 12 North. It's a process here, we have to win the North and then we can worry about the Big 12 championship game, and if you can do that and stay on a roll then you are in the hunt. But we will never sit there and focus on the top of the pyramid."
