Mizzou Sweeps Doubleheader with Indiana State

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- - Missouri finished off a sweep of Sunday's doubleheader with Indiana State by taking a 6-2 victory in game two. Sophomore Kyle Gibson turned in a career-long 7.1 innings on the mound, striking out nine to improve to 3-0 on the season. He allowed just two runs on seven hits.

In the nightcap, the Tigers scored two runs in both the sixth and seventh inning to break up a 1-1 tie game. Senior Lee Fischer doubled in the in the bottom of the sixth inning to drive in senior Dan Pietroburgo and later scored on a sacrifice fly senior Kurt Calvert to put the Tigers up 3-1.
Folgia continued his big day at the plate as he delivered his second triple of the season in the bottom of the seventh inning, which drove in two runs to increase the lead to four.
After ISU scored a run in the top of the eighth, Calvert led off the bottom half of the inning with a home run, the first of his career. Calvert had a pair of hits and two RBI in the game.
Missouri will continue its homestand with a three-games series against Toledo next weekend at Taylor Stadium. Game one will get underway at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, with games to follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
