Tonight's Game...
With the win tonight, Missouri has won its last four regular season finales at Mizzou Arena.
Tonight's double-overtime victory pushes Mizzou's overtime record this season to 2-0, and 1-0 in double OT. The Tigers were previously victorious in extra minutes against Nebraska in Lincoln, on Feb. 13.
The Tigers showed why they lead the Big 12 in 3-Point Field Goal Percentage Defense, holding Iowa State to 1-8 from beyond the arc in the first half and 5-20 during the game.
DeMarre Carroll scored a career-high 26 points in tonight's contest, including a thunderous dunk to end the game. It's the 20th time he's reached double-figures, and just the fourth time this season he's scored 20.
Coupled with his 17 points at Baylor this past Saturday, it's the second consecutive game Carroll's poured in double-digits. The last time Carroll had two consecutive double-figure games was back at the start of Big 12 play, when Carroll had 12 against Texas on Jan. 12 and 19 against Iowa State on Jan. 16.
Carroll also grabbed eight rebounds. It's the 16th time this season Carroll has grabbed at least seven boards.
Speaking of monster games, Leo Lyons is continuing his impressive play as well. Lyons 19 points gave him his third consecutive double-figure scoring contest. Lyons is averaging 12.6 ppg., but if you go back to Jan. 26, Lyons is actually averaging closer to 19 ppg. (18.6).
Lyons grabbed nine rebounds to go along with those 19 points. It's the fifth consecutive game he's grabbed at least seven rebounds. Lyons is averaging almost 12 rebounds a game (11.8) in his last five games.
The big men didn't have all the fun, on `Senior Night' senior Jason Horton had his third best scoring outing of the season with 10 points to go along with three assists. The Dallas-native's season-high came against Texas in the Big 12 opener on Jan. 12.
The Tigers showed why they're first in the Big 12 in Turnover margin. For the season, the Tigers are forcing nearly four more turnovers than they're giving up to Big 12 foes. Tonight Mizzou forced 17 Cyclone turnovers, while only turning the ball over five times. The Tigers yielded only one turnover in the first half.
Mizzou is also third in the Big 12 in Assist-to-Turnover Ratio. Missouri trails only nationally ranked Kansas and Texas in this category. Tonight the Tigers had 12 assists to only five turnovers.
