Post Game Quotes
Missouri vs. Oklahoma State
February 26, 2008
Columbia, MO
Missouri Head Coach Mike Anderson
Opening Statement:
"That was probably one of the toughest losses all year. We played well enough to win, and we just did not finish the deal. You have to give credit to Oklahoma State, and a guy like [Byron] Eaton. There is a lot of great leadership on their team. That was just a tough play there at the end of the game. It's not easy to be in that situation. We had opportunities, but we had a couple bad turnovers going down the stretch. But again, I thought it was a good game. This was a well-played game by two teams. [Oklahoma State] did what good teams do on the road."
On career performance by Leo Lyons:
"He's done some good things in games this season. We were looking for some more consistency in his play. I thought he was focused and really into the game for both halves tonight."
On the final play of the game:
"Should've, could've, would've...you always say that. I thought [Eaton] made a tough shot."
On Oklahoma State three point shooting:
"I thought that they had some open looks, and others they just knocked down. That's what you have to do to win. We went into a zone defense and had some missed assignments giving guys open looks."
Oklahoma State Head Coach Sean Sutton
On OSU making 14 3-pointers:
"I thought in a game at some point this season we'd hit a bunch of threes, and it came at the perfect time."
On OSU scoring the game-winning basket with one second left:
"We just wanted to make sure we got the last shot. I wanted him {Byron Eaton} to shoot it with enough time left that in case he missed it we'd have a shot at a tip-in or a put-back, and not enough time where they (Missouri) could get off a decent shot."
On Missouri head coach Mike Anderson
:
"Coach Anderson has done a good job with this team because they've dealt with a lot of adversity. Their guys are continuing to battle and play hard."
On Missouri's Leo Lyons, who scored 27 points
:
"We were concerned about him because of his ability to shoot the ball, but I thought he was more aggressive in the post and on the boards than we had ever seen. We tried hard out of high school to recruit him. He's an excellent player, he played great tonight."
