ORLANDO, Fla. -- - No. 5 Missouri fell to Central Florida by a score of 10-9 in Orlando, Fla. on Monday. The game was halted after seven innings due to time constraints because of Missouri's travel arrangements. A curfew was imposed prior to the start of the game in order for MU to catch its flight out of Orlando Monday night.
Tied at five heading to the seventh inning, Mizzou scored four runs to go ahead. The Tigers loaded the bases as the first three batters to the plate reached. Junior Ryan Lollis then drew a walk to push the go ahead run across. Sophomore Trevor Coleman followed with a two-run single for his first hit of the season. Lollis then scored the fourth run of the inning on a sacrifice fly by senior Jacob Priday.
UCF then rallied with five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, as the first seven batters to the plate reached safely.
Lollis was 3-for-3 with two RBI and four runs scored on Monday. He has reached safely in all four games for the Tigers this season.
The Tigers put three runs across the plate in the second inning, getting an RBI single by Lollis and a two-run base hit by Priday.
UCF cut the lead to one when Chris Duffy connected on a two-run home run over the wall in centerfield. The Golden Knights tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third inning.
Mizzou quickly regained the lead in the next half inning, as Lollis led off with his second hit of the day and later scored on a double by Priday.
Back-to-back home runs by Central Florida in the bottom of the fourth put the Golden Knights back in front. Duffy hit his second homer of the day and Ryan Richardson followed with a shot over the wall in left to give UCF a one-run lead.
Missouri pulled back even with a run in the sixth inning. Lollis singled for the third time in the game to lead off the sixth and scored on a two-out double by sophomore Aaron Senne. MU then put together the four-run seventh inning.
Freshman Kelly Fick, in his first start as a Tiger, allowed five runs on seven hits and stuck out one.
Mizzou, who moved up one spot to No. 5 in the new Baseball America Top 25 released on Monday, will be on the West Coast next weekend for the USD Tournament in San Diego. The Tigers will open with two games on Friday, taking on Cal at 3 p.m. CT before facing San Diego State at 8 p.m. CT.
