Today's Game...
With the win today, Mike Anderson improved to 4-0 all-time against Colorado and Mizzou swept the season series with the Buffs for the second consecutive year. The four-game winning streak against Colorado is the longest Tiger winning streak against the Buffs since Feb. of 2003, when the Tigers had won eight in a row against Colorado dating back to 2/13/99.
Missouri also improved to 12-3 on Norm Stewart Court this season.
The Tigers also know how to rebound from tough losses. Following Missouri's Feb. 16 loss at Kansas State, the Tigers are now 9-4 this season when coming off a loss.
The Tigers limited the Buffaloes to just 53 points for the game. That's the fewest points allowed by Missouri in a Big 12 Conference game this season. The previous low this season was 62, at Colorado in Boulder, on Jan. 26.
The Mizzou bench outscored the Colorado bench 32-8 in the game and 20-0 in the first half alone. In fact, Mizzou's 20 first half bench points matched Colorado's total first half score of 20. The Tigers also flashed a balanced lineup in tonight's action. Eight of ten Tigers who touched the floor had at least two field goals, and 7 of 10 Tigers had at least six points or more.
The Tigers had just four turnovers in the game to Colorado's 14 turnovers. The Tigers had just one turnover in the first half, to Colorado's nine. Coming into the game, the Tigers were turning the ball over only 13.8 times per game, putting them among the nation's leaders.
Mizzou took advantage of the turnover differential, scoring 16 points off turnovers to Colorado's four points off turnovers.
Colorado failed to make it to the free throw line during today's game, which ties an NCAA record.
Mizzou sophomore guard Keon Lawrence led the Tigers with 16 points. It was Lawrence's 16th double-digit scoring effort of the year. In less than two years of play, Lawrence has scored in double-figures 32 times, second only to senior Marshall Brown with 35 career double-digit games.
Despite starting the game on the bench, Mizzou foward Leo Lyons grabbed 10 rebounds during today's game. Lyons has now grabbed double-digit boards in three contests this season. Lyons previously grabbed 10 rebounds against Purdue and a career high 11 against Maryland. This is also the 7th game this season in which Lyons pulled in more than seven rebounds, and the 12th time Lyons has grabbed more seven or more boards in his career.
