Coach Anderson Post-Game quotes:
On the Game:
“I thought we came out spotty, missed a lot of shots, but then came out and played in spurts as well.”
On The Depth:
“That's the thing about our basketball team, we've got a lot of guys that can come in and beat you, it's not just one guy.”
“I think he was enforcing his will, he had the height advantage there.”
“He's one of the typical freshman, one thing about him, he's not afraid. He's sort of a 'no guts, no glory' guy.”
On The Freshmen:
“That's the challenge, meshing it out there. When you've got seven new guys, that's a lot of new people out there against a team that's already played two games.”
Mizzou Player Quotes:
On first time coming in off bench:
“Yeah, he just told us to come in off the bench and give some energy and we hit a couple of shots and he was kind of happy. We got in more the second half.”
On Monday's game:
“He's already emphasized how big the game is on Monday. He told to not look past anyone, so we're going to come in on Monday and see how that goes from there.”
On the play of Lyons and Carroll:
“I just wanted to keep feeding it to them. The more we feed it to them, the more opportunities they have. We want to get the ball down low and from there let them pass it out or shoot, but we're looking out for them.”
On playing his first game:
“Over the summer we've been up here for a long time and when you're going through all the workouts together you start to build up that team chemistry. Coach put us in, like five freshman versus the seniors sometimes, so we just kind of got used to playing with each other.”
On the pressure of the first regular season game:
“I don't feel a lot of pressure, but I know that Coach Anderson is planning on his freshmen to make an immediate impact and I feel like all five of us, we're capable of contributing,. I've just got to go out there and contribute.”
Zaire Taylor
On the game in general:
“It was a good game. I felt good about the game. I think we improved our level of play, we have to cut the turnovers down, especially towards the end of the game where we had a whole lot of turnovers. But other than that, I felt like I improved my play a little bit from the first two exhibition games.”
On the play of his teammates:
“I think they played fine. From watching the game it looked like Leo (Lyons) had a double-double, it looked like DeMarre (Carroll) had a double-double, they were all over the glass. The guards are coming in and knocking down shots, playing defense, getting deflections, touching balls.”
