Today's Game...
Missouri defeated Texas for the first time in 10 attempts. Texas had won nine straight and Missouri's last win was on Feb. 27, 1999. The series is now 11-9 in Texas' favor.
The victory over the 13th-ranked Longhorns gives Missouri its first victory over a ranked opponent this season and the second in Mike Anderson's career as Missouri head coach.
The win was also the fourth win over a ranked opponent in Mizzou Arena history, the last of which came against Kansas on March 6, 2005 against Kansas.
The 13 point margin of victory was the largest against a ranked opponent since Feb. 26, 2003, when the Tigers beat No. 3 Oklahoma by 15.
Missouri extended their home court winning streak to 13 games, the longest in Mizzou Arena history.
The Tigers played in front of the largest crowd of the season, 13,085.
Missouri opened up Big 12 play with a win for the third time in four years.
Team Notes...
Missouri had six players score in double-figures for the first time since March 14, 002. Keon Lawrence led the charge with 18 points.
The 97 points scored by Missouri was the most the Tigers had scored all season, its previous high was 96 against UMKC.
After trailing 40-38 at halftime, the Tiger's opened the second half with a 14-2 run, with five points coming from Jason Horton to give the Tigers a 52-42 lead. The Tiger's never trailed again in the second half.
The Tigers were firing on all cylinders today as they finished 12-of-26 from three-point range. The 12 made three-pointers were a season high by the Tigers, who had hit 11 three-pointers against McNeese State on 12/15/07.
Mizzou almost matched the season high shooting percentage it achieved against UMKC. The Tiger's were 19-of-27 from the field in the second half which was 70.4 percent.
Missouri's bench outscored Texas' bench 38-10.
The Tigers scored 59 points in the second half after exploding for 61 points in the second half against UMKC in the previous game. This was the sixth time this season Mizzou topped 50 points in a half. Tiger Tidbits... Keon Lawrence had a big first half, making 5-of-6 field goals, three of which were three-pointers. He finished the first half with 15 points. Lawrence's X made three-pointers are a season high. His previous high was two.
Jason Horton finished with a season high 16 points was perfect in shooting. Horton was 4-of-4 from the field, 2-of-2 from three-point range and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Horton also added five assists. The field goals and free-throws made are a season high for Horton.
Marshall Brown scored a season high with 14 points. Brown was 6-of-9 from the field and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Stephon Hannah had 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting and added six assists and six rebounds.
DeMarre Carroll finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Leo Lyons scored 10 points in only 11 minutes of play due to foul trouble.
