General Game Notes
- Today's contest was the first-ever meeting between Missouri and Louisville. The game was Missouri's first against a member of the Big East Conference since a 7-6, 10-inning loss to Notre Dame in 2002.
- Tonight's official game attendance was a school-record crowd of 3,630. That broke last night's stadium record of 3,481 in the win over Kent State. Through four games, the Missouri Regional has attracted a total of 8,940 fans to Taylor Stadium.
- In addition to the record crowd of 3,630 watching from Taylor Stadium, a record peak concurrent traffic of 1,380 fans watched tonight's game on mutigers.com's live stream. Technically, you could say that over 5,000 saw MU earn tonight's win.
- First pitch occurred at 6:30 p.m. with game time weather conditions at 77 degrees and winds out of the south at 9 mph.
- With the win, Missouri advances to the championship round of the Columbia Regional. It marks the second consecutive season the Tigers will play for a NCAA Regional crown. Louisville will face Miami on Sunday at 1 p.m. The winner of that contest will face Missouri at 6:30 p.m.
Missouri Game Notes
- Missouri earned its 42nd win of the year, which ties the 1988 Tigers for No. 5 on the all-time wins list. The 1981 Tigers are No. 4 with 43.
- Jacob Priday hit his team-leading 11th home run of the season in the top of the sixth inning. The two-run shot narrowed the Louisville lead to 3-2.
- Priday later hit a solo shot (eventual game-winner) to dead center in the top of the seventh inning to give MU a 5-4 lead. The homer increased his team-leading total to 12 on the year, which is a new career high.
- The multi-homer game was the third of the year for Priday, a First Team All-Big 12 pick. Priday hit two home runs against Oklahoma on May 11 and two more against Texas Tech on April 29. It was Priday's sixth multi-home run game of his career.
- Priday now has 32 career home runs, which ties Chris Wyrick (1990-93) for No. 7 on MU's career list.
- Freshman Trevor Coleman followed Priday's first home run with a tape-measured solo blast of his own. The round-tripper was Coleman's ninth of the year, which ranks second on the club.
- The back-to-back homers by Priday and Coleman were the first for Missouri since Aaron Senne and John McKee in the top of the fourth inning against Illinois in a wood bat contest.
- Entering the game, Louisville starting pitcher Justin Marks allowed just two home runs all season in 94.0 innings of work prior to the back-to-back bombs for the Tigers.
- Thanks to his two home runs, Priday has now scored a team-leading four runs in the Regional.
- Missouri has now hit four home runs in NCAA Regional play, including the Grand Slam recorded by John McKee on Friday vs. Kent State.
- Left fielder Aaron Senne hit his team-leading 16th double of the year in the top of the second inning. The double was Senne's second extra base hit of the Regional. He hit a triple on Friday night against Kent State.
- Ryan Lollis enjoyed his second multi-hit game of the Regional. Lollis went 2-for-4 tonight with a double after going 2-for-4 on Friday.
- John McKee drove in his team-leading fifth run of the Regional when he drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the ninth.
- Although the Cardinals pounded out 13 hits, the Tiger defense did an excellent job cutting down Louisville base runners. Right fielder Ryan Lollis threw out Isaiah Howes at second base. Howes was attempting to advance to second base following a flyout by Jorge Castillo. Starting pitcher Rick Zagone then picked off Pete Rodriguez in the fourth inning while attempting to steal third base and then picked off Boomer Whiting attempting to steal second base in the fifth.
- Freshman Kyle Gibson was outstanding in relief of Zagone, pitching 3.1 innings to earn his eighth win of the year. The 6-foot-5 right-hander allowed just three hits and struck out five while issuing just one walk.
Louisville Game Notes
- Chris Dominguez recorded his team-high tying third triple of the season in the second inning. He later scored on a two-out single from Pete Rodriguez. The hit was Dominguez's second extra-base hit of the Regional. He doubled on Friday afternoon against Miami.
- Daniel Burton drove in his fifth run of the Regional when he recorded a two-out single in the bottom of the third.
- Louisville pounded out 11 hits off of Missouri starter Rick Zagone. The 11 hits were a season high allowed by the Tiger left-hander.
- Designated hitter Jorge Castillo drove in his fourth run of the Regional with a sixth-inning single to right. Castillo drove in three runs on Friday vs. Miami.
