
Missouri Drops Opener at Big 12 Championship

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.-- - Missouri lost for the first time in six games as it fell to Oklahoma 7-2 on Wednesday in the opening day of play at the Big 12 Championship at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
Freshman Aaron Senne had two of the Tigers' six hits on Wednesday night, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Both of Senne's hits were doubles.
The Tigers had runners on base in every inning except the eighth, but stranded a total of 14 runners in the game. They loaded the bases in the fifth and seventh innings, but failed to push across runs in either frame.
Missouri (39-15) scored the game's first run in the bottom of the second inning when sophomore Kyle Mach singled to drive in Senne, who reached on his first double of the game.
Oklahoma got a pair of RBI doubles in the third inning to take the lead, then added to its advantage when Bryant Hernandez homered in the fourth inning.
Mizzou put a run on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning, as senior John McKee walked and scored on Senne's second double of the night.
OU (33-23) stretched the lead to four after a three-run top of the fifth inning, which included a two-run double by Aaron Baker and an RBI singly by Aljay Davis. The Sooners added a run in the eight for the final 7-2 margin.
Missouri is off on Thursday and will return to pool-play action on Friday, taking on Baylor at 4:30 p.m. The Tigers will face Oklahoma State at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The winners of the two pools will play for the Big 12 Championship at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
