Mizzou Closes Regular Season by Completing Sweep of OSU

STILLWATER, Okla.-- - Missouri completed its second sweep of a Big 12 Conference series this season by taking a 7-4 win over Oklahoma State on Sunday in Stillwater, Okla. It was the Tigers' fifth sweep overall this year. MU finishes the regular season with a 39-14 overall record and a 19-8 mark in the Big 12.
The 19 wins are the most in league play for a Missouri team in the 11 years of the Big 12 Conference and are the most since winning 20 in 1996, the final year of the Big Eight Conference.
The Tigers finish second in the Big 12 Conference and will be the No. 2 seed at the Big 12 Tournament, which will get underway on Wednesday at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Missouri drew walks to open each of the first two innings, putting up runs in each frame. Junior Evan Frey led off the game with a walk and later scored when freshman Aaron Senne grounded out to first. In the second inning, senior John McKee drew a lead off walk and sophomore Kyle Mach followed McKee with a single. Both McKee and Mach would score in the inning.
OSU put a run on the board in the bottom of the first inning, getting an RBI base hit from Tyler Mach. The Cowboys tied the game at three, scoring a run in the fourth as Matt Mangini doubled to open the inning, moved to third on a base hit by Ryan Pittman and scored on a sacrifice pop out by Keanon Simon.
The Tigers took the lead back with a four-run top of the sixth inning. MU had RBI singles from Mach and junior Brock Bond and was aided by a pair of errors by Oklahoma State in the inning.
Oklahoma State got a run back in the bottom of the sixth, cutting the Mizzou lead to 7-4.
Sophomore Ian Berger recorded the victory to move to 5-1 on the year. He struck out five, allowing four runs on 10 hits in six innings on the mound. Freshman Greg Folgia pitched the ninth inning and picked up his second save of the season.
Missouri is scheduled to open play at the Big 12 Tournament at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The complete tournament bracket and schedule will be announced later tonight.
