Mizzou Falls to Sooners, 5-0

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Oklahoma evened the series with Mizzou by taking a 5-0 win on Saturday at Taylor Stadium. It was the second time this season that the Tigers have been shutout. Missouri falls to 34-14 overall on the year and 15-8 in the Big 12 Conference, while OU improves to 29-21 and 9-14 in league play.
The Sooners scored an unearned run in the first inning as a throwing error allowed Joseph Hughes to score. Oklahoma pulled away with a three-run seventh inning, getting four hits including a leadoff triple from Bryant Hernandez and a two-run single from Jackson Williams. OU added a run in the ninth to make it a 5-0 final.
Sophomore Ryan Lollis had two of Missouri's five hits, delivering singles in the first and fifth innings.
The Tigers starting pitcher, sophomore Rick Zagone took just his second loss of the season. He allowed two runs (only one of which was earned) on six hits in six innings on the mound.
Oklahoma starter Heath Taylor pitched 5.2 shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out five. The Sooner bullpen finished the game without allowing a hit over the final 3.1 innings.
The Tigers will close out their home schedule at 1 p.m. on Sunday as MU and Oklahoma wrap up their three-game series at Taylor Stadium.
