COLUMBIA, Mo.-- Mizzou completed a three-game sweep of Texas Tech with a 6-5 win in the series finale on Sunday at Taylor Stadium. Trailing by one, the Tigers got two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, scoring the game-winning run on a wild pitch.
Missouri (31-12, 12-6 Big 12) led by a run heading to the top of the ninth inning before the Red Raiders got a two-run home run from James Leverton to take a 5-4 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, junior Evan Frey drew a lead off walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by junior Brock Bond. Sophomore Ryan Lollis followed with a double to drive in Frey with the tying run. Junior Jacob Priday was intentionally walked and freshman Trevor Coleman drew a walk to load the bases.
Then, with two outs, Texas Tech pitcher AJ Ramos delivered a wild pitch with sophomore Kyle Mach at the plate to allow Lollis to score from first with the game-winning run.
The win completed the Tigers first sweep over a Big 12 Conference team since taking three victories against Texas last May. It was MU's fourth three-game series sweep this season.
Priday drove in four of the Tigers' six runs on Sunday, finishing 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. He homered in the bottom of the third inning to drive in two and hit his second home run of the game and fifth of the season to lead off the sixth. Priday's first RBI of the day came when he doubled in the first inning to drive in Frey with the game's first run.
In the three games against Texas Tech, Priday was 6-for-11 (.545) with three home runs, two doubles and a triple. He drove in nine runs in the series.
The Tigers, who have won six of their last seven games, will host Missouri State at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the final home midweek game of the season. Next weekend, the Tigers travel to Austin, Texas for a three-game series against Texas, which will get under way at 6 p.m. on Friday.
