
Mizzou Falls in Series Finale with Baylor

WACO, Texas-- - The finale of the three-game series between Mizzou and Baylor was tied at three after six innings before Baylor scored five times in the bottom of the seventh. The Bears took the 8-3 win to snap a string of four-consecutive wins for MU in Waco.
Baylor sent 10 batters to the plate in the seventh inning, recording five hits and getting the help of a Tiger error in the inning.
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 28-12 on the year and 9-6 in the Big 12 Conference, while Baylor improves to 22-19 overall and 7-11 in the league.
Junior Evan Frey had a career-high five hits on the day, tallying four singles and a double. Frey has now had at least four hits in a game twice this season and three times in his career. It was the first five-hit game for Mizzou this season. The last Tiger to do it was Jacob Priday against Florida on Feb. 24, 2006.
Frey scored a run in the top of the first inning and scored the Tigers' second run of the game in the second inning. He opened the game with a single, scoring later in the inning. In the second inning, he doubled to drive in sophomore Kyle Mach. Senior Gary Arndt made it a 3-0 MU lead by scoring when sophomore Ryan Lollis grounded out to the right side.
Baylor cut into the Missouri lead with two runs scoring on a single by Shaver Hansen in the bottom of the second inning. The Bears tied the game at three with a run in the fifth inning when Paul Miles scored when Chase Gerdes hit into a fielder's choice.
The Tigers will face Kansas on Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. The game, which will not count as a conference matchup, will get underway at 7 p.m. There will be no charge for parking at Wednesday's game.
Next weekend, Mizzou returns to Taylor Stadium to host Texas Tech in a three-game set, which will open at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
