COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - Sophomore Ryan Lollis' single in the bottom of the seventh inning drove in junior Brock Bond with what would be the game-winning run as Missouri took a 5-4 win in the series opener with Louisiana-Monroe on Tuesday at Taylor Stadium.
The Tigers have won four straight, winning the first four games of their season opening homestand, which concludes on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. first pitch against ULM.
Freshman Greg Folgia took the mound for his first start at Missouri and struck out five, allowing four runs - just one of which was earned - on three hits in 4.2 innings. Sophomore Brant Combs picked up the win, pitching the final 2.2 innings without allowing a hit or a run.
Mizzou scored two in the bottom of the first inning on just one hit, an RBI single by freshman Trevor Coleman. Coleman finished 2-for-3 on the day, his second-consecutive two-hit game.
Sophomore Kyle Mach and junior Evan Frey each doubled in the second inning, with Mach scoring on Frey's hit to make it a 3-0 lead. Mizzou stretched it to a four-run advantage with a run in the fourth inning.
The Warhawks rallied to score four runs in the top of the fifth inning, three of which were unearned runs.
Then in the seventh, Bond walked and Lollis delivered the two-out base hit to drive in the go-ahead run.
The Tigers and Warhawks wrap up the series at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. All Mizzou games can be heard on KTGR 1580-AM in Columbia or online at KTGR.com.
