
Missouri Takes 10-5 Win in Home Opener

COLUMBIA, Mo.-- - Missouri recorded a 10-5 win over Youngstown State in its home opener on a chilly Friday night at Taylor Stadium. Senior John McKee drove in five runs and sophomore Rick Zagone picked up his second victory of the year.
McKee finished 3-for-5 with five RBI and junior Brock Bond drove in two runs on a 3-for-3 night.
After each team put up a run in the first inning, the Tigers built a 5-1 lead with a four-run bottom of the second inning, which included a pair of two-out RBI singles by McKee and sophomore Ryan Lollis.
Missouri (7-5) added a run in the fourth and freshman Aaron Senne hit his first home run as a Tiger with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend the lead to 7-1.
The Penguins (0-4) attempted a comeback, cutting the lead to two with four runs in the top of the seventh inning. However, Missouri would plate a run in the seventh and then scored two runs on a double by McKee in the bottom of the eighth.
Zagone struck out four, allowing five runs - three of which were earned - on eight hits in 6.2 innings pitched. Freshman Greg Folgia pitched the final 2.1 innings and earned his first save of his career.
The teams will be back on the field at 2 p.m. on Saturday for game two of the three-game series. Sophomore Aaron Crow is slated to take the mound for the Tigers.
