EeTisha Riddle led four players in double figures with her 11th double-double as Missouri defeated Kansas State, 69-61, at Mizzou Arena on Wednesday night.
Missouri (17-10, 5-9 Big 12) won its third-consecutive game and moved into a tie for eighth place in the Big 12 standings. Kansas State (16-11, 4-10) lost for the seventh time in its last eight and fell to 11th place.
Riddle finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds and was a constant threat all game, but was particularly tough in the second half. She was 5-of-6 and made all seven free throws to post 17 points and eight boards after the break.
Alyssa Hollins made a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 16 points, while seniors Tiffany Brooks and Carlynn Savant added 15 and 10, respectively. Savant also had nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The opening four minutes saw all five lead changes and the only tie in the ball game as K-State led 6-5 on a jumper by Ashley Sweat. Mizzou then went on a 14-4 run to take a nine-point lead with 9:30 left in the half.
The teams played even over the final nine minutes before Kimberly Dietz answered a Hollins three with one of her own to send the teams into the locker room with the Tigers leading 32-23.
Coming out of the intermission Kansas State used a 15-8 stretch to cut the Mizzou lead to 40-38 with 15:42 left. MU answered with a 12-2 run to push the lead back to double-digits. But the Wildcats continued to fight and got to within one, at 56-55, with just under five minutes to play.
The Tiger lead stayed between one and five points for the next three minutes and was at 63-61 with 1:38 left after a Shalee Lehning free throw. That was the last point K-State would score as Hollins made a jumper from the free throw line and Savant made four-straight from the charity stripe to secure the victory.
Ashley Sweat led the Wildcats with 18 points. Claire Coggins had all 16 of her points in the second half.
The win was the 150th at Missouri for Head Coach Cindy Stein. She has led the Tigers to at least 17 wins in six of her nine seasons.
Missouri will travel to No. 13/11 Oklahoma (21-4, 11-3) on Sunday for its final road game of the season. Tip-off at the Lloyd Noble Center is at 2 p.m.
