Tiger Weight Throwers Erupt in All-Comers Meet

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Nearly 500 track-and-field athletes of all ages battled early-morning snow and cold temperatures to participate in the 23rd Annual Missouri All-Comers Meet on Saturday. The throwing core for the University of Missouri had a splendid meet as junior Elisha Hunt once again broke her own school record in the women's weight throw, advancing deeper into the NCAA's top 10. In addition, Tyler Dailey joins Chris Rohr in the national top 10 in the men's weight throw with Bobby Musil earning a personal best to advance to the nation's top 15.
Hunt (Linn, Mo.), ranked 12th nationally entering the weekend, added another 16 inches to her school-record personal best to mark 66 feet, 4½ inches (20.23m) in the meet. In addition, Hunt broke the Hearnes Fieldhouse record. In the last two weekends, Hunt has added 28 inches to her all-time best and now sits in the NCAA's top 10.
Krishna Lee (Kansas City, Mo.) was second in the women's weight, matching her season best with a 60-10¾ (18.56m). Shernelle Nicholls was third was a season-best 58-3¼ (17.76m).
Nicholls also won the women's shot put, throwing 51-6½ (15.71m).
The men's weight throw contained just as much good news for Mizzou. Junior Tyler Dailey (Joplin, Mo.), ranked 19th in the nation, added two feet to his personal best to mark 67-10¾ (20.68m) and extend his NCAA-provisional qualifying mark. Dailey joins fellow Tiger Chris Rohr, ranked eighth nationally, in the nation's top 10 with the throw. Junior Bobby Musil was second to Dailey with a 16-inch personal best toss of 66-7¾ (20.31m) and will move into the nation's top 15.
Junior Nate Englin was second in the men's shot put, advancing his NCAA-provisional qualifying mark with a 58-7½ (17.87m) toss.
Most of the Tiger contingent took the week in preparations for the Big 12 Indoor Championships to be held in Ames, Iowa next weekend. ###
